With my time here coming to an end it's
hard to sum up emotionally what's going on. There is a bitter sweet
that wells up. Im really missing home but leaving here is becoming
hard to process. I don't want to leave, I want to stay. There may
come a time for that but I have other obligations back home that I have to attend too, So for now I must say goodbye and see ya next time.
Ongoing Project
Due to time frame and
finances, of coarse, I wasn't able to watch the aquaponics come to
completion but I was able to make my time and skill set somewhat beneficial.
One idea was created to have a mobile watering system.
With some creativity and a few spare parts, the idea came to life.
This is Matt (owner) and Mr. Vernon, hard to sum him up in a few words but let's just say HE'S THE MAN.
Here we are testing the prototype to see if it's gonna work for Mr. Matts particular set up.
Everybody was happy with
the results so off we went to finish the build.
We then switched our attention to getting water to the green house. With there being a water source near by we set out to get this thing plumbed up. It was a pretty easy task minus digging in Nepal, which is never easy.
With a little digging and busting through concrete block we had a good starting point. Everything is gravity fed here so with pressure not being a problem we held off on the glue, we did decide to glue the pipes that were going under ground.
We ran pipe around one side of the green house, capped at the end incase Mr. Matt ever wanted to extend the water line to the back of the property. Turned the water on and tested for leaks and BOOM now the green house has water.
Electricity was ran and the crew was there installing the rest of the support metal for the roof to be installed. Excited to see a fully functional green house the next trip to Nepal.
What they try to offer is a sustainable, all organic gardening solution. With ease of access you are able to control the environment a little easier, where as dropping a seed in the ground is subject to all elements. Locals in community, Hospitals and Restaurants in the area to name a few that have benefited for the Green House Project.
Before the storm the green house played a role in helping the local hospitals supply a supplemental nutritional drink for the patients battling covid. With hopes we will never have an issue like that in the future it is nice to know they
are close to getting back to a status to where if the need ever arises they will be ready.
